“I couldn’t be happier with the care that my daughter receives from the staff at Little Oaks.” – M’s mum
Little Oaks is run by a passionate and dedicated team of early-years professionals, with a combined history of over 30 years’ experience in pre-school education.
Our team know that the early years are the most important time for shaping a child’s future possibility. We invest in ongoing staff training to ensure that our whole team is highly qualified, safe and effective. All staff are qualified in paediatric first aid and have yearly safeguarding updates.
Ana Marsh is our manager, qualified at Level 3 in early years care and education. She has 10+ years of experience in early years settings. She is a founder member of the G.E.T. UK and is our G.E.T. consultant.
Josie Rees-Smith is our deputy manager and SENCO. She is early years qualified at Level 3 and has been with Little Oaks since the beginning. Josie has 8+ years experience in early years settings and in the G.E.T.
Justyna Assuncao is an early years teacher with a MA in education.
Ciarán Coyne is an owner and company director, with a background in early years.
Melissa Coyne, MSc is an owner and company director, with a background in the very early years – she’s a registered midwife and a university lecturer in midwifery.
From little acorns…
Little Oaks is an idea many years in the making; since 2005, our team has run a popular playgroup called Little Acorns at The Centre. Our dream was always to grow the group into something more, so opening Little Oaks in January 2013 was the natural next step.
Children can start attending Little Acorns from birth, and move on to Little Oaks from age 2 or 3. Little Acorns runs at The Centre on term-time Mondays and Fridays, 10:30am-12pm.
Local families may already be familiar with The Centre. This beautiful, spacious venue is just steps from Barnet High Street, yet has a calming, peaceful atmosphere all its own. It has been home to a wide range of community activities for over 12 years. Little Oaks uses three bright, clean rooms alongside the Centre’s main hall, and has an outdoor play area in the safe, enclosed courtyard garden. We make use of High Barnet’s local parks and playground for further outdoor activities.
Our pre-school curriculum follows Ofsted’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We are also incorporating the Golden Education Template (GET) into our curriculum. The GET is an internationally recognised education programme that weaves academic learning with an understanding of children’s natural growth patterns, providing a holistic education.
